This Hindu wedding in New Jersey was as lively and joyful as Indian weddings tend to be, and I had the honor of capturing the excitement of the couple’s special day.
The Haldi Ceremony
The venue’s modern aesthetic was a beautiful setting for the celebration. The day began with the bride’s Haldi, where family and friends applied turmeric paste to bless her with good fortune and ward off evil spirits. Everyone took part, and the room was filled with excitement.
The Mehndi Ceremony
During the Mehndi, the bride’s hands and feet were decorated with intricate henna patterns while classical music played in a room dressed in bright colors. Her loved ones applied the henna, which symbolizes the couple’s love and affection, as she waited patiently. The photographs from this moment came out beautifully.
The Sangeet
The evening’s Sangeet was full of music, dance, and laughter. The DJ played bright Bollywood beats in the hotel ballroom and had everyone on their feet. Family members performed traditional dances, and the couple even showed off a choreographed number of their own.
The Baraat
The Baraat opened the wedding day. The groom, riding a beautifully decorated horse, arrived with family and friends dancing to the beat of the dhol. The bride’s family performed the traditional Aarti and welcomed the Baraat. The outdoor area made a dramatic entrance, and a lovely driveway led to the ballroom where the ceremony took place.
The Hindu Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony wove traditional Hindu rites together with contemporary touches. The couple exchanged garlands and vows and took part in the sacred fire ceremony. The Mandap was decorated with elegant flowers, and a fountain served as a lovely backdrop.

After the ceremony, we used the hotel’s grounds for portraits of the couple. The garden was an ideal setting for beautiful images.
The Wedding Reception
The reception took place in the hotel ballroom, where the newlyweds made a triumphant entrance. Elegant table arrangements, lavish centerpieces, and brilliant lighting filled the room, and the couple danced the night away with friends and family.
